Description of Program
Provides grant assistance to the homeless and near-homeless families of Allegheny County. Not an emergency service, HAP makes available one-time grants to the landlord on behalf of the client to aid in establishing and maintaining permanent, adequate and affordable housing. Works with families moving from bridge to permanent housing. To request help, walk in to schedule an appointment.

Homeless applicants must be referred by a shelter, bridge housing program, soup kitchen, or similar program.
Magistrate notice, lease termination for Housing Authority or letter of eviction from landlord
Current proof of income for one full month (must be $50 over your rent) - pay stubs, DPA printout, Social Security printout - for everyone on lease over 18 years of age
2 forms of ID - social security card, passport, driver's license or valid state ID - for all household members over 18
2 pieces of mail verifying your address: utility bill, phone bill, etc.
Birth certificates for all children age 17 or younger
Homeless and near-homeless individuals who have children age 17 or younger.
