Description of Program
Our residents typically enter from a homeless situation, with income below the current year SSI amount awarded. The basic goal of the program is to help them secure an ongoing income and permanent housing by the time they must leave shelter. Shelter time should also be used to assess other needs of the resident, particularly those that relate to physical and mental health, and all other factors which affect his/her ability to obtain and keep permanent housing. The shelter is generally available for 45 days; 15 day extensions may be awarded. The Shelter Program has a capacity of 32 single rooms and provides meal assistance for participants at Cafy Commons. The Shelter Program will provide resources for housing throughout the resident's shelter time.
