Description of Program
Free transportation for senior citizens to grocery store, hospital, doctor, drugstore, beauty salon, etc. Two shuttles. One shuttle runs weekdays along Freeport Road between Blawnox and Sharpsburg. The other alternates days between communities of the route 28 corridor. The shuttles are operated by trained volunteer drivers and volunteer onboard dispatchers. This program is a part of In Service of Seniors and is a partnership with St. Margaret Hospital Foundation.
For shuttle in the lower Freeport Road/Aspwinwall area, call 412-782-2001 after 9:45 AM on the day transportation is needed. For second shuttle in the various communities of route 28, call 412-449-0151 2 business days ahead of your needed ride.
Watch news during bad weather for cancellations.
One shuttle: Senior citizens living near Freeport Road in Blawnox, O'Hara, Aspinwall and Sharpsburg. Second shuttle: seniors living in Natrona Hights, Tarentum, Oakmont, Brackenridge, Etna Millvale, Springdale, Verona.
