Description of Program
The $1 Energy Fund Grant Program assists utility customers who meet income and payment eligibility guidelines with a $100-$500 grant applied directly to their utility bill. The program will open on October 1, 2008 for those without service.
To apply for Dollar Energy funds, the account holder must live in the home. Applicants must have a balance of $100; senior citizens age 62 and over may have a $0 balance as long as there is no existing credit on the account. Applicants must have paid $150 $100 for water utilities-on their account in the last 90 days. Senior Citizens age 62 and over must have paid $100 $50 for water utilities-on their account in the last 90 days. The grant covers residential, single home or apartment service. "Cooking only," commercial, industrial or apartments with shared utility service are not eligible. Applicants can only receive one grant per utility, per program year October 1st - September 30th). Total household income must be at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Income Guideline.
