Description of Service
The York County Food Bank collects, stores, & sends surplus food to approximately 130 food pantries, senior centers and other non-profit organizations for distribution to needy, ill, elderly, those in half-way houses, children, infants, and camp programs in York County. The Food Bank charges approximately 19 cents per pound to cover expenses. Food is not for resale, nor given directly to individuals.
T.E.F.A.P. (The Emergency Food Assistance Program)>
Commodity Supplemental Food Program: Seniors can receive a food box at one of 15 participating senior centers or food pantries with proof of income. Call to get more information.>
Food for Families: Distributes food to 200 families every Friday, 12:30pm to 1:45pm for anyone who is in need of food.
Emergency Food Voucher Program: Indivudals may go to Truth Tabernacle on 617 E. Princess St., First St. John’s Lutheran on 140 W. King St., Iglesia Casa del Alfarero on 241 E. King St., to redeem a voucher at the York County Food Bank where they can select 50 lbs. of food for free.
The Give A Meal Program is a joint effort between the York County Food Bank and area school districts that seeks to provide holiday meals for families who cannot afford them.
