Description of Service
The York County Food Bank collects, stores, & sends surplus food to approximately 130 food pantries, senior centers and other non-profit organizations for distribution to needy, ill, elderly, those in half-way houses, children, infants, and camp programs in York County. The Food Bank charges approximately 19 cents per pound to cover expenses. Food is not for resale, nor given directly to individuals.

Commodity Supplemental Food Program: Seniors can receive a food box at one of 15 participating senior centers or food pantries. Call to get more information.>
SHARE (self help ad resource exchange program): offers people of any income level an opportunity to buy food at discounted rates. The program's only requirement is to complete 2 hours of volunteer work for each desired box. There is no limit to the number of boxes participants can purchase. The volunteer work can be anything from cooking dinner for a sick neighbor to coaching a youth sport. It will all be done on the honor system.>
Food for Families: Distributes food to 200 families every Friday, 12:30pm to 2:00pm. York County residents only.>
