Description of Service
Residents of Adams County who are struggling with utility bills are able to seek assistance through the SCCAP Emergency Services Program. Not all residents will be eligible for assistance, based on income guidelines and other factors.
MET ED (PCAP) Pennsylvania Customer Assistance Program (PCAP) assists Met Ed customers in the 150% poverty level or below. This is a program that can give a monthly credit on the electric bill and could put the back balance on deferred arrears.
Columbia Gas (CAP) Customer Assistance Programs (CAP) assists Columbia Gas customers in the 150% poverty or below. This program gives poverty level or below a set amount each month for you to pay that is based off of your income not your usage.
Adams Electric Co-op (PHH) Project Helping Hands (PHH) assists Adams Electric Co-op customers who demonstrate a genuine need for assistance. SCCAP can help up to $200.00, but you must pay at least 25% of your due bill to be eligible. This credit is available only one time a year.
Salvation Army helps with assistance with various bills including rent/mortgage, utility, medical, or automobile gas to attend a critical medical appointments.
