Description of Service
Free tax help for low-income families in Allegheny County, focusing on the Earned Income Tax Credit. Will help prepare simple local, state and federal returns.

Directions to North Hills Community Outreach Bellevue Site, Allegheny General Hospital – Suburban Campus, 100 South Jackson Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15202 FROM NORTH: Take I 79 South to 279 South and follow 279 South to the Bellevue/West View Exit. Turn left onto Union Avenue. Stay on Union (the name will change to Home Avenue), past the entrance to Northgate High School on the left, until you come to the stop light at North Starr Avenue. Turn left onto North Starr and follow to stop light at Lincoln Avenue. Go straight across Lincoln at the light onto S. Starr Ave. and follow until you reach the hospital on the left. Just before the hospital is South Jackson Avenue (next to Urgent Care entrance). Turn left onto South Jackson Avenue to the Visitor Parking lot. FROM WEST: Follow Rt. 65 towards Pittsburgh until reaching the stop light at entrance to Bellevue, just past Wendy’s on the left. At the traffic light there is a gas station on the left and Mc Donalds on the right. Turn left at the light and then an immediate left onto South Starr Avenue. Follow S. Starr until reaching the hospital on the right. Drive past the hospital to the first road on the right, South Jackson Avenue. Turn right onto S. Jackson to the parking lot. FROM EAST: Take Rt. 28 and follow to junction to I 279 North. Follow 279 North to the Bellevue/West View Exit. Turn left onto Union Avenue. Stay on Union (the name will change to Home Avenue), past the entrance to Northgate High School on the left, until you come to the stop light at North Starr Avenue. Turn left onto North Starr and follow to stop light at Lincoln Avenue. Go straight at the light onto S. Starr Ave. and follow until you reach the hospital on the left. Turn left onto South Jackson Avenue to the parking lot. ENTER at the front MAIN ENTRANCE of the hospital. Take the main elevator to second floor, turn left when getting off the elevator and follow the directional signs that say “North Hills Community Outreach”. The North Hills Community Outreach office is all the way down the hallway on the right.

Photo ID for yourself.
Social Security card for yourself, your spouse, and your dependents – this is essential. Only a printout from the Social Security Administration (in downtown Pittsburgh at 915 Penn Ave.) can substitute.
All W-2 forms. You must have the W-2s from all of your employers for the tax year before filing. Check to make sure the social security number on your W-2 is correct (if not, get a new W-2 from your employer before filing).
Forms that record other income, such as interest from a bank account (1099-INT), dividends (1099-DIV), pension (1099-R), or government payments (including unemployment benefits, Social Security and state or local tax refunds) (1099-G or 1099-SSA).
Anything that says “this is important for your taxes.”
Local tax forms or any tax booklets you have received in the mail.
Record of tuition and post-secondary educational expenses (1098-T) for yourself or your dependents.
Record of childcare costs - total paid for childcare and childcare providers' tax ID number.
If you own your home bring your mortgage interest statement and a copy of all your property tax receipts for the tax year.
If you have a bank account, bring a check or a deposit slip so we can get the account and routing numbers for direct deposit. This will speed up your refund, allowing you to get your refund in 1-2 weeks rather than 3-4 weeks.
Copy of your previous year's tax return if available (not required).
A paystub from each job if available (not required).
To file taxes electronically on a married filing joint tax return, both spouses must be present to sign the required forms.
