Description of Service
Women Overcoming War (WOW) is a counseling group of the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System’s Combat Stress Recovery Clinic to help female veterans who were deployed to a combat zone and are experiencing combat stress reactions or PTSD.
The group focuses on explaining combat stress and how it is unique for women veterans. The group also helps women veterans share their experience in a safe, all-female setting. Finally, the group helps members to build skills to help cope with difficult emotions, troubling thoughts, and struggles in communication.
1. Ask your PCP, medical provider, or behavioral healthcare provider to place a Combat Stress Recovery Clinic consult. You will meet directly with the group facilitator, Dr. Bilsky, for treatment planning and to answer any questions or concerns.
2. Call the group facilitator, Dr. Bilsky, at 412-360-3842 for help setting up a treatment planning meeting.
Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
You may be eligible for VA benefits if you are a: veteran; veteran's dependent; surviving spouse, child or parent of a deceased veteran; uniformed service member; present or former reservist or National Guard member.

The group meets on Wednesday from 4:00pm to 5:00pm.
