Description of Service
VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System's Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation New Dawn (OEF/OIF/OND) Program provides priority health care and benefit assistance to veterans even if they are on active duty or an activated member of the National Guard or Reserve.
OEF/OIF/OND assures that returning combat veterans experience a seamless transition from the Department of Defense (DoD) to VAPHS. This includes coordination with a wide range of VAPHS clinics and programs including medical, surgical, behavioral and outreach services.
The OEF/OIF/OND program provides social work case management for seriously injured and/or polytrauma veterans, in addition to veterans wishing to voluntarily participate in case management services. Case management is provided to assist the veteran in navigating the various VAPHS programs and community resources. A transition patient advocate will assist service members transitioning to veteran status engage in and navigate VA health care, serving as an advocate and resource for veterans in the OEF/OIF/OND clinic.
Veterans/Service members may be referred from the DoD or a provider, or self-refer by calling 412-822-2362.
Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
