Description of Service
The Caregiver Support Program (CSP) provides assistance to family members and friends providing care on a regular basis for a frail loved one, 60 years of age and older, grandparents taking care of grandchildren when parents are unavailable or someone of any age with early onset Alzheimers.
The program supports individuals who want to live at home but need help with daily activities such as meal preparation, bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, and/or personal care. It is designed to ease the burden for caregivers who are overwhelmed with helping their loved one, managing their own family, and possibly work responsibilities as well.
• A resident of Allegheny County
• Exhibits an inability to perform at least one activity of daily living (ADL)
• Is either over 60 years of age OR
• Has dementia and is between 18 through 59 years of age
The reimbursement portion of CSP has income eligibility requirements; however, all program participants will receive an assessment of their needs, a dedicated care manager to connect them with services, financial and resource counseling, access to caregiver training, support groups, and respite.
