General Information
Description of ServiceWC&S Emergency Shelter is for victims of intimate partner violence and their children who are in potentially lethal danger. A 24-hour hotline provides shelter screening, safety planning, emotional support, connection to WC&S services, and information and referral. The immediate goal of shelter is to first provide safety for victims and their children in a high-security environment. Once women are provided food, clothing, and shelter, they participate in services and are connected to resources to achieve their personal goals centered around justice, autonomy, restoration, and safety. The ultimate goal is to restore hope and empowerment and live free from violence. Shelter residents access in-house resources in the form of a nurturing and fun children's program, support groups, individual counseling, therapy, healthcare assistance, legal options counseling and accompaniment, advocacy (career, CYF, housing and other advocacy as needed), and connection to external resources.
