Description of Service
Neighborhood Legal Services Association (NLSA) provides free civil legal services to low income individuals and families without the means to hire a private attorney. Provides representation to survivors of domestic violence in Protection from Abuse proceedings. May provide direct representation, advice, assistance in self-representation, brief service/limited legal assistance or referral to a private attorney (including free and reduced-fee), depending on case. Provides community education on legal topics. Free interpretation services are provided to those with limited English abilities and the hearing-impaired.
While NLSA does not provide assistance with Veterans' Benefits, they can provide legal assistance to eligible veterans who are having problems with their housing, utilities, or other issues within NLSA's priorities. Please contact the Veterans Leadership Program to obtain a referral.
