Description of Service
Provides free civil legal services to low income individuals and families without the means to hire a private attorney. Provides representation to survivors of domestic violence in Protection from Abuse (PFA) proceedings. May provide direct representation, advice, assistance in self-representation, brief service, limited legal assistance or referral to a private attorney (including free and reduced-fee), depending on case. Provides community education on legal topics.
While NLSA does not provide assistance with Veterans' Benefits, they can provide legal assistance to eligible veterans who are having problems with their housing, utilities, or other issues within NLSA's priorities.
Applications on-line at https://nlsa.us/ are preferred by using the “Get Legal Help” link in the upper right corner of the page. Calls are also accepted. Only those in an emergency situation will have a file opened through the walk-in process. Walk-in office hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 11:30am and 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
Must be a US citizen or a documented immigrant. Not all documented immigrants are serviced.
Proof of documented immigration status if applies.
Anyone without an emergency will be asked to access services by calling their local office or the toll-free number. Walk-ins are only for emergency situations.
Language Line services available.
Income based: Gross income for most services must be at or below 125% of the Federal Poverty Level.

Free or reduced fee for qualified applicants.

Telephone Hours: Weekdays, 9:00am to 11:30am and 1:00pm to 2:30pm Walk In Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 3:00pm
