Description of Service
Provides public education and patient services to residents of Lancaster County, in addition to raising funds for research, local education and patient services
Patient services include:
- Wig bank: Provides free wigs to patients undergoing chemotherapy and/or radiation; Can meet cosmetologist by appointment
- Road to Recovery program: Offers transportation to treatment sites by volunteer drivers when no other alternative exists. Transportation is provided for radiation and chemotherapy treatments and for cancer-related bloodwork
- Cancer Resource Network: An 800 number (800-ACS-2345) and website (www.cancer.org) offering 24 hour up-to-date information regarding cancer, including prevention, detection, diagnosis, treatment and referral sources for other assistance and support.
-Look good, Feel better: Local Cosmetologists teach beauty techniques to women undergoing cancer treatment how to cope with appearance related side effects. Cosmetics and skin care products provided.
-Reach to Recovery: One to one support program for newly diagnosed breast cancer patients.
