Description of Service
To help families find, select and pay for quality child care. Provide free child care resource and referral services to the Berks County community. Subsidized child care program for Berks County which helps low-income working families, teen parents pursuing a high school diploma, and families making the transition from welfare to work pay their child care fees.
Submit an application.
Provide proof of Berks County residency. Provide proof of identification.
There is a waiting list for funding. Exception: The County Assistance Office determines child care eligibility for families receiving cash assistance and other welfare benefits and refers those families to CCIS for services. There is no waiting list for eligible families making the transition from welfare dependency to work.
Meet income guidelines; need child care in order to work 20 hours or more per week, or work at least 10 hours per week and receive training for at least 10 hours per week, or be a teen parent pursuing a high school diploma full timee; pay a portion of child care expenses (co-pay); select an eligible child care provider. There are no eligibility requirements to receive child care resource and referral services.

Service is free; most families will pay a portion of their child care expenses. The amount of this co-payment is determined by family size and income.
