City of Lock Haven - Police ServicesThe City of Lock Haven provides 24-hour police protection. The City employs a total of 12 uniformed police officers and 4 non-uniform police personnel. All City officers have been trained in Community Oriented Policing techniques. The police department also employs an officer who has been trained and certified in D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) instruction. The D.A.R.E. program is nationally recognized and serves to provide the youth of our community with the tools they need to recognize and deal with the subtle pressures that influence many children to experiment with drugs, alcohol, gangs and violence. This same officer also participates in the "Officer Phil" program which is of similar design and intent, but addresses the younger children in the comunity. Several City officers also participate with the Pennsylvania Attorney General, Bureau of Narcotics Investigation Task Force which specifically investigates drug offenses. Clinton County SheriffThe Sheriff's Office is responsible for transporting all prisoners, transporting juveniles to and from detention centers and courts; docketing and serving summons, civil papers, mortgage foreclosures, personal sheriff's sales, protection from abuse orders, civil complaints, landlord/tenant complaints, orders of possession and execution for District Justices, and court bench warrants; conducting sheriff's sales; removing weapons from the homes; making arrests if a defendant violates the Protection from Abuse Order and for court bench warrants; and selling licenses for firearms to gun dealers and issuing concealed pistol permits. County of Berks - SheriffEnforces all orders of the Berks County Court of Common Pleas and provides security for all court related functions. Transports prisoners to and from county, state and federal institutions for court appearances. Enforces the Pennsylvania Crimes Code and Motor Vehicle Code. Operates the county Central Booking Center. Executes warrants of arrest and extradites fugitives from justice. Assists other law-enforcement agencies in Berks County in activities such as the Berks County Drug Task Force, Operation Nightlight, DUI Enforcement Checkpoints, crowd control, traffic control, and security for community events.
