All City officers have been trained in Community Oriented Policing techniques. The police department also employs an officer who has been trained and certified in D.A.R.E. This same officer also participates in the "Officer Phil" program which is of similar design and intent, but addresses the younger children in the comunity. Several City officers also participate with the Pennsylvania Attorney General, Bureau of Narcotics Investigation Task Force which specifically investigates drug offenses.
