    Duquesne University School of Law, Tribone Center for Clinical Legal Education -Civil Rights ClinicDuquesne University School of Law's Civil Rights Clinic is a year-long in-house clinic that engages in civil rights litigation and advocacy. Students participate in weekly training sessions addressing the applicable substantive and procedural law. Beyond the classroom, students are trained in case intake and interviewing, client counseling, fact investigation, case analysis, negotiation, research, and drafting of complaints and documents. A leading referral source for cases is the Pittsburgh Chapter of the NAACP. In this innovative partnership, NAACP staff and volunteers work with the clinic students and the supervising attorneys to create a comprehensive intake and referral system for civil rights and other legal complaints. Students prepare and conduct training sessions for the NAACP on the application of a refined and systematized intake and referral process. Any potentially viable civil rights complaints identified through this process will be referred to the CBR Clinic or when necessary to other appropriate sources for assistance. The civil rights clinic works with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunities Commission, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, the Pittsburgh Commission on Human Relations and the Pittsburgh chapter of the NAACP on matters involving employment, housing and public accommodation discrimination, and civil rights advocacy.AlleghenyDuquesne University School of Law, Tribone Center for Clinical Legal EducationDuquesne University
    Duquesne University School of Law, Tribone Center for Clinical Legal Education - Family Law ClinicStudents in the Family Law Clinic work under the supervision of a family law attorney to represent income-qualified clients with cases involving domestic abuse, divorce settlement, child support, and child custody. Students have opportunities to fully engage in client representation under Pennsylvania's student practice rules in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County. The clinic provides live-client experiences and teaches students the skills of interviewing, counseling, negotiation, drafting pleadings, and advocating before the court.     Duquesne University School of Law, Tribone Center for Clinical Legal Education - Unemployment Compensation ClinicThe Unemployment Compensation Clinic focuses on unemployment compensation matters for low-income clients. Students receive valuable training in litigation skills for direct application in their representation of unemployment compensation clients. Each unemployment compensation case gives students experience in client interviewing, case preparation, direct and cross-examination, application of the rules of evidence, and oral presentation before a referee. All students represent multiple clients over the course of the clinic and therefore have the opportunity to develop and hone their trial advocacy skills.     Duquesne University School of Law, Tribone Center for Clinical Legal Education - Veterans ClinicThe Veterans Clinic assists veterans charged with non-violent offenses adjudicated through the Allegheny County Veterans Court program. The students prepare and present cases for disposition in the Court of Common Pleas and stay in touch with veterans to ensure they are following court-ordered substance abuse or mental health treatment plans offered as alternatives to incarceration.     University of Pittsburgh School of Law - Taxpayer ClinicThe clinic gives free legal help to persons, based upon their level of income, who have federal income tax problems or need federal income tax advice. Dealing with the clinic will not affect taxpayers’ rights before the IRS. The clinic provides free advice and assistance for:
    • Income tax returns being examined by the IRS;
    • IRS tax-collection problems;
    • Tax cases pending before the United States Tax Court.
    Working under the supervision of experienced tax attorneys, the clinic’s students assist in all aspects of delivering legal services to low-income taxpayers in disputes with the IRS. Students engage in interviewing, counseling, research, drafting, and negotiation with the IRS calendar and the disposition of the cases taken. In addition to working with clients, students meet for weekly case-review sessions.
