    Pennsylvania Farmworker ProjectCollaborates with community and governmental organizations to provide community education to seasonal and migrant farmworkers about issues related to their legal rights. Provides tax return preparation during tax season with funding provided by the IRS. Provides community education on taxpayer rights and responsibilities, as well as assistance in tax controversies to farmworkers and other low-income immigrant workers. Through support from the IRS low income taxpayer clinic. Provide farmworkers' rights trainings to social service providers serving farmworkers in PA. Represent income eligible farmworkers in the following areas: Administrative and civil proceedings regarding violations of federal and state laws protecting farmworkers, such as the Migrant and Season Agricultural Workers Protection Act (AWPA), The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and the Pennsylvania Seasonal Farm Labor Act. Minimum wage and/or wage payment violations. Unsafe working conditions, exploitation by farm labor contractors (FLCs) and employers, and pesticide-related health issues. Unsafe living conditions, and other housing issues. Government benefits, including social security, food stamps and unemployment compensation. Discrimination in employment based on race, sex, national origin, gender and citizenship status. Discrimination and/or retaliation relating to a farmworker exercising his/her legal rights, including the right to make complaints about conditions of employment or housing.
