Programs, usually offered by community adult schools or evening classes at local high schools, that provide instruction in fundamental learning skills for adults who have never attended school or have interrupted formal schooling and need to raise their level of education to increase their self-confidence and/or prepare for an occupation. Emphasis is placed on basic reading, language and mathematics.

Corry Higher Education Council - Adult Education and Workforce TrainingThe Corry Higher Education Council provides or facilitates the availability of adult education and workforce training opportunities. This includes such programs as: Free GED or HiSET preparation classes for those without a high school diploma; Adult Basic Education Classes for those with a diploma but who want to further their skills in reading, writing and math; basic computer classes such as Microsoft Word, Excel and QuickBooks; workforce skill classes that can lead to entry-level jobs in such areas as welding, machining and blueprint reading; and the opportunity to earn a college degree from Mercyhurst University in Corry, in Business Administration or Liberal Arts. The Hi-Ed can provide financial assistance for work-skills related classes for those with a financial need, and also makes available adult college scholarships.
