United States Department of Veterans Affairs - Homeless Veterans Program: Health CareThe United States Department of Veterans Affairs is committed to ending Veteran homelessness by the end of 2015. No one who has served our country should ever go without a safe, stable place to call home. The entire department has put its energy and resources into ending Veteran homelessness. VA's programs provide individualized, comprehensive care to Veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Our Veterans return from service with wounds we cannot always see. VA is committed to providing our Veterans with the mental health services they deserve. Too often, the emotional scars of service can contribute to Veteran homelessness or place Veterans at risk of homelessness. VA offers many mental health services for Veterans to help them get back on their feet. VA provides a variety of programs and services that Veterans can take advantage of, including:
    • Domiciliary Care for Homeless Veterans (DCHV) Program Domiciliary care was initially established to provide services to economically-disadvantaged Veterans, and it remains committed to serving that group. The Domiciliary has evolved from a "Soldiers' Home" to become an active clinical rehabilitation and treatment program for male and female Veterans and domiciliary programs are now integrated with the Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation and Treatment Programs (MH RRTPs). Domiciliary Care for Homeless Veterans Program
    • Health Care for Homeless Veterans (HCHV) Program VA's Health Care for Homeless Veterans (HCHV) Program offers outreach, exams, treatment, referrals, and case management to homeless Veterans at more than 135 sites where trained, caring VA specialists provide tools and support necessary to get your life on a better track. Call VA’s toll-free hotline, 1-877-4AID-VET, or visit the page.Health Care for Homeless Veterans (HCHV) Program
    • Homeless Veterans Dental Program VA's Homeless Veterans Dental Program provides dental treatment for eligible Veterans in a number of programs: Domiciliary Residential Rehabilitation Treatment, VA Grant and Per Diem, Compensated Work Therapy/Transitional Residence, Healthcare for Homeless Veterans (contract bed), and Community Residential Care.
