    Darrell Gwynn FoundationThe Darrell Gwynn Foundation’s mission is to provide support for people with paralysis and prevent spinal cord injuries. The Darrell Gwynn Foundation's Education & Prevention Program strives to raise awareness about spinal cord injuries while also revealing the foundation's other initiatives. To accomplish this, the Darrell Gwynn Foundation will educate young people about ways that they can prevent a spinal cord injury by encouraging them to think twice before participating in destructive decisions and risky behavior particularly: distracted driving, impaired driving, not wearing seatbelts, underage drinking, playing with guns, diving in unknown waters and dangerous practices while playing sports or exercising. The Darrell Gwynn Foundation's Education & Prevention program will encourage young people to make positive decisions in their lives with the intention of reducing the number of new spinal cord injuries. Through the Darrell Gwynn Foundation's Education & Prevention Program, we strive to be the national leader in spinal cord injury education and prevention. The Darrell Gwynn Foundation is dedicated to supporting people with paralysis by giving the gift of mobility and assisting patients recovering from spinal cord injuries. United States Coast Guard - Coast Guard Mutual Assistance: Emergency Assistance ProgramCoast Guard Mutual Assistance (CGMA) provides essential financial aid to the entire Coast Guard family, chiefly through financial counseling, short-term interest-free loans, financial grants, referrals, and other related means. One of the main purposes of Coast Guard Mutual Assistance is to provide financial assistance to clients caught in emergency, short-term, financial situations beyond their control that endanger personal well being. An emergency condition is one that arises suddenly, is unforeseen and urgent, and requires immediate attention. Emergency assistance is generally authorized in circumstances that impose a serious financial or personal hardship on the client requiring urgent help to relieve the situation. Certain eligibility and assistance restrictions apply, and are outlined in the CGMA Manual. Examples of Authorized Emergency Assistance:
    • Basic Living Expenses,
    • Emergency Home Repair,
    • Emergency Travel Expenses,
    • Fire and Other Disasters,
    • Funeral Expenses,

    Veterans of Foreign WarsThe VFW's voice had been instrumental in establishing the Veterans Administration, creating a GI bill for the 20th century, the development of the national cemetery system and the fight for compensation for Vietnam vets exposed to Agent Orange and for veterans diagnosed with Gulf War Syndrome. In 2008, VFW won a long-fought victory with the passing of a GI Bill for the 21st Century, giving expanded educational benefits to America's active-duty service members, and members of the Guard and Reserves, fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. The VFW also has fought for improving VA medical centers services for women veterans. Besides helping fund the creation of the Vietnam, Korean War, World War II and Women in Military Service memorials, the VFW in 2005 became the first veterans' organization to contribute to building the new Disabled Veterans for Life Memorial, which opened in November 2010. Annually, the nearly 2 million members of the VFW and its Auxiliaries contribute more than 8.6 million hours of volunteerism in the community, including participation in Make A Difference Day and National Volunteer Week. From providing over $3 million in college scholarships and savings bonds to students every year, to encouraging elevation of the Department of Veterans Affairs to the president's cabinet, the VFW is there. As a not-for-profit organization, the VFW Foundation receives no government funding. We rely solely on individual donations and corporation sponsorships. Your tax-deductible charitable contribution makes a direct impact on how much help and financial support we’re able to provide our deployed troops and retired military and their families in their time of need. With your help, we can continue to support programs that:
    • Reward America’s military heroes and their families by sponsoring admission to popular entertainment events and attractions.
    • Provide prepaid phone time and sponsored “Free Call Days” allowing deployed troops and hospitalized veterans to connect with loved ones.
    • Support troops and their families in need of financial assistance for housing, medical or basic assistance needs with a one-time grant.
    • Sponsor “welcome home” and “send off” events to boost the morale of returning or deployed military units.
    • Offer military veterans, regardless of when or where they served, with VFW counsel and assistance to successfully navigate VA entitlement and disability claims.

    Veterans of Foreign Wars - Unmet NeedsVFW Unmet Needs was created in 2004 through a corporate partnership to assist military service members and their families who run into unexpected financial difficulties as a result of deployment or other hardships directly related to military service. Unmet Needs assists with basic life needs such as: mortgage and rent, home and auto repairs, insurance, utilities, food and clothing. Unmet Needs helps meet unanticipated financial demands on our service members' families that can't be remedied through existing means and provides our service members with the security of knowing that their families have additional support here at home. The financial assistance is in the form of up to $2,500 in grants that do not need to be repaid. All grants are paid directly to the "creditor" (such as the electric company), and not to the individual. Each case is reviewed individually and acceptance determined by a committee. Expenses Eligible for payment:
    • Housing expenses – mortgage, rent, repairs, insurance;
    • Vehicle expenses – payments, insurance, repairs;
    • Utilities and primary phone;
