    Allegheny County DHS - Senior Community CentersSenior Community Centers are places for older adults to gather with friends or make new ones, enjoy a meal or engage in a variety of activities. Life enrichment classes, exercise programs, trips to interesting places, transportation to and from the center, and financial and benefit counseling are some of the opportunities awaiting older adults. Senior Community Center activities are geared to the social, intellectual, cultural, economic, emotional and physical needs or interests of adults 60 years of age or older. In addition, the information-and-referral staff provide assistance in applying for benefits and programs available to older adults in Allegheny County. Lunch is also available Monday through Friday in the senior centers. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program offers free tax help to people with low and moderate income, with special attention given to those age 60 or older.     Weatherly Senior CenterOffers various classes and activities. Speakers come in once a month and health screenings done once a month. Lunch is served Monday through Friday, 11:45am. Individuals must call one day in advance for lunch reservation. Open to adults, 60 and over. Attendees are asked to make a donation of $2.00 or what they can afford for meals (Guests under 60 pay $4.00). Transportation is available through Carbon County Transit ($18 for book of tickets).
