    Paralyzed Veterans of America - Operation PAVEOperation PAVE (Paving Access for Veterans Employment is a Paralyzed Veterans of America's vocational rehabilitation program, supports America’s paralyzed veterans in their search for good jobs and meaningful careers while helping employers strengthen their workforce with hard-working, gifted employees. Many of America’s 44,000 paralyzed veterans are unemployed. Research and clinical studies have shown that providing an individual with a vocational focus is critical to their successful transition to living with paralysis. Access to education and career opportunities is essential to boost quality of life, reduce chronic health issues and improve the financial stability of veterans and their families. Traditional vocational rehabilitation models have been ineffective in preparing our nation’s paralyzed and disabled veterans to reenter the workforce and remain there. That’s why Paralyzed Veterans’ is working to overcome the vocational challenges that face veterans living with spinal cord injuries, and all persons with disabilities, at our six vocational rehabilitation centers located across the country. At each, PAVE counselors work hand-in-hand with the veteran, medical staff, PVA’s national service officers and physical therapists to:
    • Explore career options early on in a paralyzed veteran’s medical rehabilitation,
    • Assist veterans to find the appropriate educational opportunities, job training, skill improvements, etc.,
    • Connect veterans to a network of hiring employers.

    United States Department of Labor - Employment and Training Administration - Veterans Key to Career SuccessThe Jobs for Veterans Act established Veterans access to services within an integrated one-stop service delivery system. The law established a priority of service requirement applicable to all Department of Labor programs offering employment and training related services for veterans. The Key to Career Success campaign is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor through the Career One-Stop Pathways to Career Success Web site: www.careeronestop.org/MilitaryTransition. The Key to Career Success campaign connects veterans and transitioning service members with high quality career planning, training, and job search resources available at local One-Stop Career Centers. Employment and training services are provided to veterans through a nationwide network of approximately 3,000 One-Stop Career Centers. To access information on One-Stop Career Center locations in your state or throughout the nation, please visit America’s Service Locator Web site at www.servicelocator.org or call the following Toll Free Number: 1-877-US-2JOBS or 1-877-872-5627. At the One Stop Career website veterans will find tools to:
    • Match Military Experience to Civilian Occupations, a useful portal that matches by MOC code, key word search or menu search;
    • Get Credentials, Certifications, and Licenses, a portal that helps veteran job-seekers with credentials that document and verify your workplace skills, knowledge, and experience and translate military skills and experience into credentials to obtain civilian skills;
    • The Write a Resume Portal will help a veteran job-seeker format a resume;
    • The Disabled/Injured Veterans Resources provides resources for veterans who are wounded or disabled;
    • Find Local Services will help a veteran job-seeker locate additional services available to veterans.
    Veterans' Employment and Training Service (VETS) serves America's veterans and separating service members by preparing them for meaningful careers, providing employment resources and expertise, and protecting their employment rights.

    United States Department of Labor - Wage and Hour DivisionAdministers and enforces the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Website: www.dol.gov/elaws/esa/fmla/faq.asp, and a number of other labor laws. The FLSA establishes minimum wage, overtime pay, record keeping, and child labor standards which affect full and part time workers in the private sector and in federal, state, and local governments. The enforcement of the FLSA is carried out by compliance officers who have the authority to conduct investigations and gather data on wages, hours, and other employment conditions or practices.     United States Department of Veterans Affairs - Homeless Veterans Program: Employment ProgramsThe United States Department of Veterans Affairs is committed to ending Veteran homelessness by the end of 2015. No one who has served our country should ever go without a safe, stable place to call home. The entire department has put its energy and resources into ending Veteran homelessness. VA's programs provide individualized, comprehensive care to Veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. VA is dedicated to helping homeless Veterans and Veterans at risk of homelessness secure and maintain employment leading to increased residential and personal stability. Our goal is to afford Veterans the opportunity to return to healthy, productive lifestyles within their own communities.
    • Homeless Veteran Supported Employment Program The Homeless Veteran Supported Employment Program (HVSEP) provides vocational assistance, job development and placement, and ongoing supports to improve employment outcomes among homeless Veterans and Veterans at-risk of homelessness. Formerly homeless Veterans who have been trained as Vocational Rehabilitation Specialists (VRSs) provide these services.
    • Compensated Work Therapy (CWT) Program VA’s Compensated Work Therapy (CWT) Program is a national vocational program comprised of three unique programs which assist homeless Veterans in returning to competitive employment: Sheltered Workshop, Transitional Work, and Supported Employment. Veterans in CWT are paid at least the federal or state minimum wage, whichever is higher. VA's National Cemetery Administration and Veterans Health Administration have also formed partnerships at national cemeteries, where formerly homeless Veterans from the CWT program have received work opportunities.
    • Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E) VetSuccess Program The Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E) VetSuccess Program assists Veterans with service-connected disabilities to prepare for, find, and keep suitable jobs. Services that may be provided include: Comprehensive rehabilitation evaluation to determine abilities, skills, and interests for employment; employment services; assistance finding and keeping a job; and On the Job Training (OJT), apprenticeship, and non-paid work experiences.
